The following are the basic job descriptions for Collective Positions, Job Experience Interns and Exploratory Interns. Keep in mind that all positions involve a great deal of volunteer coordination and working in other areas.

Collective Positions
- Build Coordinator
- The Build Coordinator's job is to work with Free Geek's Production Coordinator to oversee the build workshops. The current Build Coordinator is Martin Chase.
- Computers For Kids Coordinator
- Free Geek does not currently have one.
- Education Coordinator
- The Education Coordinator was one of the first three positions created at Free Geek, and the only one to outlast its original occupant. While many aspects of Free Geek's operations are educational, the Education Coordinator is specifically responsible for making classes and documentation available and recruiting volunteers to help. Laurel Bates is our wonderful Education Coordinator.
- Laptop Program Coordinator
- The Laptop Program Coordinator is responsible for organizing the volunteer Laptop Build program and enabling the maximum reuse of Laptops both internal and external to Free Geek. Jeff Robinson was converted from an Exploratory Intern position to a collective member and he is Free Geek's current Laptop Program Coordinator.
- Office Coordinator
- The Office Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Front Desk and creating efficient systems for document flow (among other things). The Office Coordinator is Mary Kate Watson.
- Online Sales Coordinator
- The Online Sales Coordinator is responsible for maximizing reuse by selling gizmos online and for creating a volunteer program revolving around use of Ebay. Sergio Garcia was converted from an Exploratory Intern position to a collective member and he is Free Geek's current Online Sales Coordinator.
- Operations Coordinator
- Free Geek currently does not have an operations coordinator, as the Reuse committee restructured the tasks that this collective position traditionally covered. Free Geek does not expect to hire for this position again.
- Outreach Coordinator
- The collective currently does not have an outreach coordinator, but the idea of one has been seriously discussed in various committees. Free Geek will likely move forward with this position by the end of 2008.
- Production Coordinators
- The Production Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that volunteer programs are functioning in such a way that maintains consistent output of hardware and optimal reuse of gizmos. The current Production Coordinators are Dave Haskins and Matt Bell.
- Recycling Coordinator
- The Recycling Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the warehouse, including relations with vendors and knowledge about computer natural components. The current Recycling Coordinator is Liane Kocka.
- Sales Coordinator
- The Sales Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the Thrift Store. The current Sales Coordinator is Luiz Sudbrack.
- Special Media Emerging Geek
- This position has never existed and it is unlikely that Free Geek will ever hire for it. The position originated from a potential grant from the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission and the idea that Free Geek might create a new media program.
- Technical Support Coordinator
- The Tech Support Coordinator is responsible for troubleshooting problems with Freekboxen, Storeboxen, and Grantboxen. The current Tech Support Coordinator is Michael Westwind.
- Volunteer Trainer/Coordinator
- The Volunteer Trainer/Coordinator is a flexible collective member who coordinates volunteers covering floor shifts. The current Volunteer Coordinator is Ali Briggs.
- Volunteer Program Coordinator
- The Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for developing volunteer programs, rewards systems, and outreach possibilities. The current Volunteer Program Coordinator is Shawn Furst and she prefers to be called Puppet Master.
Job Experience Internships
Note: All Job Experience Internships are approximately 6 month long positions intended for persons desiring marketable job experience.
- Front Desk Internship
- The Front Desk Intern processes donations, signs volunteers up for shifts, and answers the phone. The current Front Desk Intern is Jacob Fain.
- Hardware Donations Internship
- The Receiving Intern maintains the receiving area, including volunteer coordination and accepting donations. The current Receiving Intern is Charles Bishop.
- Prebuild Internship
- The Prebuild Intern helps in system evaluation and card and motherboard sorting, including volunteer coordination and testing.
- Recycling Internship
- The Recycling Intern helps maintain the warehouse, including volunteer coordination and operating the forklift. There is no current Recycling Intern.
- Thrift Store Internship
- The Thrift Store Intern helps the store function well, including operating the cash register, coordinating volunteers and stocking shelves. The current Thrift Store Intern is Jessica Rand.
Exploratory Positions
- Exploratory Online Sales Position
- Past position which was converted into collective staff position. See Online Sales Coordinator description above.
- Laptop Exploratory Position
- Past position to determine if a full time laptop program coordinator can sustain itself financially. Position was converted into collective staff position.
- Reuse Exploratory Position
- Past position which was intended to manage the flow of donated "oddball" gizmos and ensure maximum reuse. Free Geek determined that there was not a sufficient need for a Reuse Coordinator staff position.
- Sales Exploratory Position
- Past position to determine whether a second Sales Coordinator was needed. Sales Exploratory Intern was converted into a collective position (Co-Sales Coordinator) but when the person filling this position left Free Geek, a replacement was not hired. It is unlikely that Free Geek will hire a Co-Sales Coordinator in the future.
Other
- Accounts Juggler
- Someone to keep track of insurance, benefits, and vendor accounts as well as file all associated paperwork and tax forms.
