The Government Accountability Office (federal) released a report (11/10/05) on the need to deal with e-waste. This may reverberate through many legislative initiatives. (Link is just the abstract; full report linked from there.)

Legislation to be introduced early 2006, has broad industry backing. Will add $9-15 to cost of every TV, computer sold; will partner with Goodwill and other non profits as collection points.
NOTE: This report incorporates some info about Free Geek as a potential disposal center.

- Ha Tran of the Washington Department of Ecology sent some questions to FG Oly on 9/8/05. There was some discussion on reuse list but no response was sent. I'm almost certain those questions were related to this legislation. (see talk page)
