=== bike polo === 7pm Colonel Summers Park SE 19th Ave & Belmont St, bikes/mallets provided

BIKE POLO EQUIPMENT

  • Do we Have All the Equipment or do we have to come up with something??
  • If so how many riders can we have on the field? - court! we play 3 on the court.
  • If not would a croquet set work with like a soccer ball. any stick could work, some are better than others, deflated soccer balls are fine on grass, on hardtop we want a roller hockey ball. --Revphil 22:12, 21 Jan 2006 (PST)

I would like the Axles of Evil to take ownership of this event. They have the best equipment, know all the rules, and generally are eager to play. croquet mallets are ok, ski poles with wooden/pipe heads are better. --Revphil 21:35, 14 Jan 2006 (PST)

What time does this take place???--Christophe 04:57, 26 Jan 2006 (PST) wed games are generally after work around 7pm --Revphil 04:34, 27 Jan 2006 (PST)

=== MBW steeplechase - GABE, CHRISTOPHE, AND CUPCAKE === TRIMET: [2] MAP: [3] The first of the minibike competitions, the steeplechase will try your souls and stamina. The steeplechase is basicly a "follow the breadcrumbs" race. We will meet at the start (underground at the washington park (zoo) max stop, thats on both the blue and red lines, a few stops west of downtown.) to go over the details and then take off up the elevator. As soon as we exit, there will be glowsticks and reflective tape marking the route down. The markers are strategically placed however and will take some sleuthing to follow to the end. Along the way there will be mandatory beer pitstops (# TBA) to ensure no cheating and the proper state of mind for SMTP's kickoff show @ RICHLAND. The finish line is obviously a secret, but near enough to ride to Richland. Be prepared to have fun. Also be prepared with the following items:

  • MINIBIKE - it is minibikewinter so the 16"ers will take off first and recieve the places/prizes, if you're competing, ride a mini, otherwise the otherbike heat will leave shortly afterwards to pick up the bodies...
  • LIGHT - yes it is winter and the sun will be sleeping. And, no, this is not the mellow "zoobomb" where lights are optional. The steeplechase is an amazing run through many dark areas, so if you plan on following the route, a light will be necessary to see the markers and "cliffs of dispair"
  • A CHANGE OF CLOTHING - either in your backpack or possibly storage at richland (tba). It is very muddy (FUN!)

1st PLACE WILL HAVE A TROPHY, 12 PACK OF BEER, + MORE

THE FIRST THREE PEOPLE WILL GET THE RIBBION AND COG TROPHEYS

    • emcee
    • statatician scorekeeper timekeeper

idea for keeping track of score: 1st place gets one point, 2nd gets two and so on until the scorekeeper gets bored, but keep track of who actually competes. An award is given to the person with the fewest points who did every event. Thus if we have 6 events, the best score would be a 6. if you got all seconds you would have 12. thoughts?

Rose City Rollers

Feb 4th this event should be awesome time, we will need some small cards or some handout for folks... maybe we can get a mention in their handbil. Talk to handsome dave about it. Worth a small donation

HOW DO WE PROMOTE IN THE MERC OR THE WILLI WEEK? IT WONT BE PRIVATE PARTIES THEN

Some parts we can promote. The start of the allycat, the zoobomb race, we can hint as to more stuff but we have to make sure that the paper knows we can't have the address posted, but we can provide them with a URL (aka: website) to print that has more info.

I'd say that we are going to have no problem packing either parties Friday and Saturday by word of mouth like the good ol' days. I say a Blackout on the media on the parties for sure, neither are legit so why push are luck. - sysfail

This reporter asked to be kept in the loop: We should hit the press with our full on media slavo the 1st week of Feb Bryan Van Norden Outdoors Willamette Week 822 SW 10th Ave. Portland OR 97206

bvannorden@wweek.com outdoors@wweek.com

Phone: 503-243-2122 Fax: 503-243-1115

make sure that the press on this event is a little DL. we can't have the merc or any really popular website promoting saturday's event, or we wont be able to call it a private party, and then we will have to get OLCC approval, which means we will have to be done with the event by like 2am.

Agree with above, media blackout - Sysfail
