New page

==Background==
These are machines that are generally below our current specs, but still have a good chance of functioning. We just don't want to warranty them for one reason or another.

Machines we know to be non-functional are sold as [[Scraptops]].

We try to bundle these with an appropriate power adapter, and give some notes as to their specs: proc type/speed and ram. None of these machines are sold with HDDs. This is done to make certain there is no confusion as to whether or not they're covered by warranty.

==Policy==
<onlyinclude>
Obviously, these are sold as-is, but the actual text from the stickers we slap on these reads:

'''This Laptop is sold AS-IS'''
'''No Warranty, No Returns, No Tech Support'''
We verify it will POST (Power On Self Test), and that the screen works, but that's it.
Unless you enjoy working on laptops, you probably don't want it.
This machine does not have hard drive. It may be missing other parts. It's a roll of the dice.
