I've put together some floor plans of our new location hoping they might be useful to planning the space. The washroom floor plan is included as we will need to make some accessibility modifications to the area.

Please take all measurements and representations of scale with scepticism. I'm not a draftsperson, or carpenter, etc. Though some measurements may be noted to a quarter of an inch, they are not necessarily that accurate. I wasn't sure for example, if I should measure doorways to the jam itself or to the stop that prevents the door from swinging all the way throught the hole. (In fact, since we are talking about accessibility in some cases, I should have considered how much space the door and the hinges occupied in the open doorway. Oh well, that will have to wait for v.2.0)

The presence of obstacles was another factor affecting measurements. It wasn't always possible to lay the tape measure in a straight line through the space to be measured. I guessed how much of an adjustment to make for the crooked tape.

So, if any of the measurements seem borderline, or critical, ("Will this 18 inch thingy fit in that space marked 19 inches?") it would be wise to remeasure rather than rely on the diagram.

Because the measurements were fast and dirty, I've drawn these diagrams the same way. The measurements are indicated as I wrote them on the page: some are in inches, some feet and inches, some have fractions.

Here goes:

The main space:

  • there are two or three support pillars down the lengthwise centre of the space. Forgot to measure their size and location.

The washrooms:

  • the floor of the washrooms is raised approx 42 inches off the ground
  • The door to the left hand loo swings in, the door to the other swings out.
