The Place
The System Evaluation area is at the back of the building, to the right of the Build Workshop as you come in the front door. (If you were to enter through Receiving and walk all the way back, taking a brief jog to the right at the Sorting Room, System Evaluation is where you'd end up.)
The Task
Systems arrive in Evaluation after they have been donated to Free Geek, entered into the database, and given an ID number.
Volunteers in the Build program then determine which systems should be kept and which recycled. This step is documented at System Evaluation 1 Triage and System Evaluation 2 Triage.
Evaluation is also where we pull components out of the systems so the components can be tested and inventoried. This process is often referred to as "Mining".
Instructions for all the steps in System Evaluation can be found on the System Evaluation Instructions page.
Server Systems
Server Evaluation Triage is performed on servers in the White Hole.
