The Place

The System Evaluation area is just after basic intake. Its like a wide hospital hallway, with 2 colors of pant and every thing. One side is where systems to be recycled are mined for parts to test and reuse, and the other side is where you incoming systems are evaluated.

The Task

Systems arrive in Evaluation after they have been donated to Free Geek.

Volunteers in the Build program then determine which systems should be kept and which recycled. This step is documented at System Evaluation Visual Triage and System Evaluation Final Triage.

Evaluation is also where we pull components out of the systems so the components can be tested and inventoried. This process is often referred to as "Mining".

Instructions for all the steps in System Evaluation can be found on the System Evaluation Instructions page.
