Wordpress Workgroup Intern
A place to start laying out the loose requirements for a new workgroup intern.
The important tech things that come to mind are:
- Basic working knowledge of PHP
- Solid understanding of html/css
- And how they work when generated by PHP.
- Decent knowledge of Wordpress
- Have at spent some time looking at the plethora of WP plugins, and be somewhat familiar with what's available.
- Have a decent understanding of WP theming
- WP is very well documented, and intern must be willing to search heartily for keys to solutions
- Basic knowledge of server admin.
- At least enough to use ssh, and be comfortable with file management.
- Have used some flavor of version control, and be willing to try/learn others if needed.
- The development site is currently under Git, and will (hopefully) stay under some form of version control.
Outside of that they probably should:
- Be ready and willing to work in the sometimes hectic and seemingly disorganized organized of Free Geek.
- And, be able to do this without freaking out.
- Be willing to remain extremely communicative with Tony and other PR people, and possibly Michael.
- Even if they feel like they might freak out.
- Stay motivated, and come up with creative solutions to the needs of PR, or others at Free Geek.
- This will help prevent freaking out.
