Special mining is done in Eval 2. It is intended for systems that would otherwise be recycled. That is, if a system is a keeper, use the regular mining process -- not this special mining process.
Currently, the systems that are special mined are those that have 3 digit ZIF sockets, but have processor speeds less than 500 MHz. This includes those with 3 digit ZIF sockets and no processors.
- Remove all the cards that regular mining would have you remove.
- Remove the hard drive.
- Be sure to leave drive rails with the system.
- Remove the CD Drive and floppy drive (unless they are proprietarily built into the case).
- Be sure to leave drive rails with the system.
- Remove the motherboard (and take to advanced testing).
- If the case is a standard case with all its side panels, etc., label it with a HOLD FOR STORE sticker and put it on the cart.
