We'll be looking for someone who can come to a program that works and make it something new and better. At the same time, she or he will need to be able to work within the culture and limitations (and with the unique strengths) of Free Geek and volunteerism.  She or he should also be dedicated to our mission and ready to jump into a democratic workplace. An ideal candidate will have some experience in program development (or, alternately, curriculum development) and sensitivity to the needs of volunteers. His/Her previous coworkers should have a sneaking suspicion that s/he is secretly a superhero.

We'll be looking for someone who can come to a program that works and make it something new and better. She or he should also be dedicated to our mission and ready to jump into a democratic workplace. His/Her previous coworkers should have a sneaking suspicion that s/he is secretly a superhero.

And one has to have a sense of humor to work here or it just isn't gonna work.

In addition, the Education Coordinator participates in general Free Geek operations, substituting for other collective members and filling in where needed. He/She also cross trains other collective members so that they will be able to cover gaps in the Education Program.

This is a job in a worker collective. Your first three to six months will be as a provisional member of the collective. At the end of that time our decision whether or not to bring you on as a permanent collective member will be made through a peer review process.

  • Work for better volunteer teacher retention.
  • Document educational aspects of Free Geek, including classes.

  • Coordinate Free Geek's volunteer internship program.
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Learn procedures for other parts of Free Geek and fill in as necessary.
  • Participate in collective management structure.

Required skills:
