A FreekBox is the computer built in our Build Program and given to our Adoption volunteers.
Current
Current hardware specs (which change over time) are:
- Pentium II 500-566
- 128MB RAM
- 6 - 7 GB hard drive
- 14x - 24x CD ROM drive
- Floppy disk drive
- 17 inch color monitor
- 56k Modem
- 10/100 Network card
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Speakers
Software specs (partial):
- Debian/GNU Linux (sarge)
- KDE desktop
- Openoffice.org office suite
- Firefox web browser
FreekBox 2
This box had lower specs which evolved over the years, and was based on Debian (woody).
FreekBox 1
This was the first standardized box we built and was based on Mandrake.
