Free Geek's front desk area is one of the busiest places in the organization.

Job Title: Front Desk Volunteer Intern
Hours Weekly: 4.5 to 32 hours/week
Days Per Week: 1 to 5 days/week
Length of Internship: Minimum 10 weeks
Training: Orientation and Training Provided
Free Geek Supervisor: Sarah, Volunteer and Front Desk Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Greet donors and volunteers
  • Direct volunteers to the correct stations, and log their hours and schedule them for their next shift when they leave
  • Review new Volunteer Applications
  • Answer questions about Free Geek in a pleasant and informative manner
  • Take incoming phone calls, retrieve messages from voicemail system, and make return calls as necessary
  • Accurately schedule volunteers for shifts, enter application information and schedule hours
  • Place reminder telephone calls for classes and volunteer shifts
  • Ensure coffee is available for volunteers
  • Perform data entry as needed
  • Create and maintain Volunteer Application files
  • Ability to advise volunteers in various programs and signing up for shifts
  • Process donations and create receipts for donors

The candidate will not be afraid to ask questions, but will be able to work on projects with minimal supervision. The candidate will be able to remain flexible as Free Geek grows and changes.
