The Director charged with representing Third-Sector interests must posses a familiarity with issues and practices that are prevalent in the nonprofit community. This director should have experience operating a nonprofit, and therefore must:

-Have a strong knowledge of the granting process, and how it affects nonprofits. Free Geek has a strong hardware grants program, and the Third-Sector director must be able to familiarize themselves with this project.

-Maintain awareness of developing best practices within the nonprofit sector. Nonprofits are extremely innovative, and are constantly changing and adapting. The Third-Sector director must have a keen understanding of new methods and practices as they are developed.

-Keep abreast of of new issues, problems, or challenges that are facing nonprofits. Laws, administrative policies, and public perception of nonprofits are constantly changing, and the Third-Sector representative must be able to advise Free Geek on how to deal with these changes.

-Be able to interact with other nonprofit organizations in a way that advances the image and interests of Free Geek. The Third-Sector representative will likely attend nonprofit conferences and functions, and must be able to operate effectively in such an environment.
