Do you love making order out of chaos, learning about all kinds of computer equipment, meeting people, working with volunteers? Or do you know someone who likes putting away lots of random stuff? If so, read on. Here's what we're looking for and how to apply.
Responsibilities
- Manage flow of gizmos through the hardware donations receiving area.
- Teach Adoption volunteers basic intake procedures.
- Communicate proactively with other Free Geek staff and volunteers about receiving area needs.
- Teach basic hardware vocabulary and Free Geek's system evaluation process to Build volunteers as needed (we will train you).
- Ensure that receiving is well integrated with Free Geeks production and sales areas.
- Attend and be active in reuse committee meetings.
- Assist in training your replacement at end of internship.
- Help other areas of Free Geek's operations as needed.
- Give tours of Free Geek to potential volunteers and donors.
Required Skills
- Aptitude for and enjoyment of helping people
- Good interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated, and able to eventually work with little supervision
- Detail-oriented
- Strong organizational skills (you like to put stuff in order)
- Able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Strong teaching skills
