Video Card Testing
Revision as of 13:12, 25 May 2008 by Mapleshade (talk | contribs)
- Make sure the computer turned off and the switch is turned to D (video card).
- Place an AGP video card in the AGP slot, or a PCI video card in the PCI slot (depending on card type).
- Attach the monitor cable to the video card and turn the computer on.
- Let the program run until it tells you what the card is.
- Record what the screen says. It should say something like: (Voodoo Banshee 16 mgs) or (RIVA TNT 16384kb) or (Nvidia gf2 gts nv11 32 meg) or (Radeon 7000 R100 32 meg).
- Turn off the computer and remove the video card. It's better (faster) to turn off the computer with the power supply switch rather than powering down (as in following the instructions onscreen).
- Start over with new card.
