Sister Free Geek
- Rick says if we spin off a sister Free Geek, we should consider Beaverton, since it has nice computers.
- Richard says the volunteers are in North Portland.
- Martin says where would staff come from?
- Analysis of ZIP code/ geographic data could tell us where to put a new one.
- Smaller satellite Free Geeks (i.e. Hood River)
Collab
- If Collab were gone, we'd be well staffed (maybe over staffed). Core programs should take priority.
- Proposal to council was not outside.
- Soup up Grants Program.
- Integrate into Grants, or separate program.
- Time sensitive stuff is the hardest to do for us.
- Relationship with an external group?
- Find existing organizations to refer folks to.
- Enhance tech support and education first.
- What about small for profit businesses?
Africa Projects
- Building computers and/or supplying parts for African NGOs
- Warehouse needs more room if we plan on keeping low end specs
- Need to be compensated for labor and the cost we would receive from recycling.
- Production increase wouldrequire being open additional day, probably.
- Helping start new Free Geeks in South Africa
- We would need to train someone to send and someone to fill
- It would have to be paid for
GAP in Salem
Who can support boxes in Salem? If there is someone, we should go for it.
Free Geek Oly
