The Gathering Badge

The gathering badge represents the ability to stock the Thrift Store from other areas of Free Geek. This includes both collecting items for sale and items necessary for basic store functioning.

Figuring out What the Store Needs

• Why not check out our Gathering List?
• cadet will be encouraged to use a cart and get as many goodies as possible on a single loop

Shopping from Basic testing

• Keyboards and Pointing Devices
• Simple speaker sets and Sub/Satellite Sets

Shopping from Advanced Testing

• Location of Store Box
• Optical Drives
• CPU Heatsink/Fan Assemblies
• Wall warts

Shopping from Receiving

• Demonstrate knowledge of the following items' locations:
  • store box and location of the replacement box
  • Static Bags and store bags
  • bread & butter cables (see gathering list)
  • location of cable magnet board and how to update it
  • location of the white board

Shopping from the Warehouse

• Know the locations of the following items
  • Tested LCD monitors
  • PC Parts (see gathering list)
  • Printers

Shopping from Prebuild and Card Sort

• Demonstrate knowing the locations of the following items
  • Cards from card sort
  • Power supplies
  • "The thrift store does/does not need cases" sign
  • Location of the white board

Shopping from Build

• Demonstrate knowing the locations of the following items
  • Drive rails
  • Floppy Drives
  • Drive bay adapters
  • Button batteries

Supplying the store with essentials

• Demonstrate knowing the locations of the following items
  • Paper, Tape, Credit Card paper, Staples, Rubber Bands
