Power Adapters Use & Lore

First visually examine the power adapter for signs of overuse. Is the power cord intact? Are there any "melted" or burnt sections? Do all the prongs on the plug look good?
Always, check too see that any attached adapter is a correct match.
Match volts & amps (and brand) exactly whenever possible. Voltage must match exactly. Higher amperage is usually permissible, except on "regulated" devices. Do NOT use a power adapter with less amps than the device requires, you will get a false negative on the device, either because it will not turn on at all, or because it will but not work properly.
