Bluetooth Testing

This is a notes page for Bluetooth headset testing

Basic Procedure

  1. Charge the device for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Make sure the USB dongle is plugged in.
  3. Go to System->Preferences->Bluetooth (or left-click on the Bluetooth icon on the top panel and select 'preferences') and make sure that any previous devices are disconnected by highlighting them and selecting 'disconnect'.
  4. Unplug the headset from charger and set to Pair Mode.
  5. Select 'Set up new device...' and then 'forward' on the next windows.
  6. After a few moments you should see the model # of your device, highlight it and select 'forward'.
  7. Now check the Bluetooth preferences window to make sure that the device is present and that the connected icon is visible (it looks like a power plug in a socket).
  8. Set the bluetooth device as an input/output sound device by left clicking on the sound icon in the top panel and selecting 'sound preferences', on the input and output panels select the bluetooth device that you have connected.
  9. Go to Applications->Sound & Video->Sound Recorder and try recording through the device, then playback what you have recorded.

If the device pairs, you can set the device as input/output, and you can record and playback audio the device tests out good.
