Receiving Cordless Phones

  1. If they have a power supply connected, confirm "that it is the correct supply?" (i.e. voltage, amperage, and polarity match). If there is not a connected power supply search the donation for a correct power supply.
  2. PLEASE use a rubber band or plastic bag to contain the unit, as tape will leave adhesive residue.

Then take to "Advanced Testing"

Advanced Testing: Cordless Phones

  1. Confirm base and transeiver are of the same manufacture.
  2. Confirm power supply matches input rating on base unit.
  • Amperage- Usually signified as "A","a","amp.","ampere" or ma for milli ampere and denoted with a decimal point in the rating.
  • Voltage- usually signified with a "V",or"VA".
  • Polarity- If the rating on the base calls for an "A.C." input, polarity is of no consequence. Otherwise a line connected to a C then a dot in the C connected to a line then the lines denote polarity. A minus sign signifies negative polarity and a plus sign signifies positive polarity. Every so often you'll run across a rating such as 9V followed by a solid line with a broken lie underneath of it. In this circumstance the solid line is the positive and the broken is the negative and the top is the center or tip and the broken is the base or ring of the connector.

After you have a sufficient power supply arrange the phone so that it may be charged, for instance the power supply connected to a 110v/60Hz outlet and the base of the unit and the tranciever on the base. allow the unit to charge for at least 3 hours or overnight if possible. After the unit has a sufficient charge determine how to delete the call history and any directories if they exist.

  1. Delete call history and or directory.
  2. Insert RJ11 into receptical.

At freegeek you will need to dial 9 for a dial tone.

  1. press the numbers on the key pad beginning with 2 then 1 then 3,4,5,etc. along with the asterix and the number sign.
  2. Utilize any paging and/or intercom features to see if they work.

If all tests pass assign a gizmo number and send to the store
