Adoption points

Because not all volunteer hours go toward adopting a computer, certain hours earn volunteers "points" that are accrued in order to receive a FreekBox. 24 points are generally required in order to adopt a computer (see Adoption Policy), and a volunteer may earn no more than 24 points. Once a computer is adopted, the point count resets to 0; however, another adoption is not allowed until 365 days since the last adoption.

Volunteer hours that earn points

Any tasks within the Adoption program, along with advanced build, internship, and other non-build hours accrue Adoption points. This includes:

• Receiving
• Recycling
• Printers
• Laptops
• Macintosh
• Servers
• Advanced Testing (Hardware Testing)
• Any internship
• Teaching
• System Administration
• Board Wrok
• Plug into Portland
