One of the key parts of our mission is environmental: to reduce waste by encouraging reuse and recycling. When we started out, we knew of only a couple of places doing anything like us. Now, we hear of more like-minded organizations on a weekly basis! We take this as a good sign that people are combining their concern for the environment and desire to help each other.

Basel Action Network A non-profit organization working to stop the dumping of hazardous waste by rich countries into poorer countries.

City of Portland Office of Sustainable Development Oversees Solid Waste and Recycling management in the City of Portland.

Freecycle Portland and Freecycle Re-use is the best way to recycle! Freecycle is an email group that facilitates the transformation of one person's trash to the next's treasure.

Don't Dump That Is the UK equivalent to Freecycle. They use online forums to keep perfectly useful items out of landfils by locating new owners for old stuff.

Metro Recycling Information The Portland Metropolitan Area Regional Government recycling and waste management resource page. They have information about recycling all kinds of stuff.

The National Technology Recycling Project The NTRP maintains a database of computer recycling facilities for the entire nation. If you're not in the Portland area, you may want to check with them.

Recycling Advocates A nonprofit organization based in Portland, involving people in creating a sustainable future through local efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Total Reclaim The BAN-certified e-waste recycling company in Seattle, WA that takes our monitors. They're environmentally responsible, hard-working, and nice people.

Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition A grassroots coalition that engages in research, advocacy, and organizing related to the environmental and health problems caused by the rapid growth of the high-tech electronics industry.

WEPSI (Western Electronic Product Stewardship Initiative) A nonprofit organization creating a dialogue between Electronics manufacturers, the salvage industry, Government and non-profit organizations to deal with the problems of electronic waste.
