Transiting worker checklist:

Transitioning from "nother" to Committed non-Collective Member:

  • health care meeting
  • Ask if they have any previously planned vacations
  • Eligible under HIRE act? (Valerie)
  • Staff Vacation Policies/Change in Schedule
  • Arriving Late and Cancellations/Calling in Sick (review)
  • Signing Checks, Contracts, Invoices
  • Explain that this position is at-will employment and that he/she is subject to reviews
  • Workspace/Office
  • review current email lists, sign up for lists that are necessary (committee most related to job, etc.)
  • Update HR Calendar with date of hire, 3-month probationary goal setting, 6-month probationary review
  • Get photo and bio for staff page(http://www.freegeek.org/staff)
  • what to expect during probationary period (buddy)
  • How to tell you're doing well (on time, floor shifts, moving position forward, commitments)

Transitioning from Collective member to Committed non-Collective member:

  • retirement - take off
  • remove staff wiki account
  • remove access to RT queues
  • remove from staff email list - add to paidworkers
  • update HR calendar noting change in category
  • change category page on the wiki
  • check-in about other email lists - which should the person stay on?
  • change category on the website

Transitioning from Committed non-Collective member to "nother."

  • retirement - take off
