Thrift Store and Sales Meeting 12/1/10

Sales Meeting

Online sales: - Made ~$3000 last month.

- Scraptops:

+ Some of them sold (HPs sold, Compaqs sold, ) $55-70 each, starting at ~$45-50.
 * model number, shinier, less missing parts
 * Sergio commits to talk to Santiago about extra hours for scraptops DONE
  - Sergio will put in a request to HR to add 4-8 hours to Online Sales

- RAM

+ 1 GB RAM modules: there are a lot of them, and they can probably sell in the store
 * Commit: Sergio will put 1GB RAM module request for store on next 

Production agenda - HDD

+ Santiago will figure out what is worth selling and what isn't
+ 50-pin SCSI HDDs
 * used in classic Macs, worth a decent amount of money

A/T: - PDAs

+ they don't sell in the store
 * exception: PDAs that are internet-enabled sell sometimes
 * TS group will discuss PDA desires, possibly come up w/ criteria for what they want/don't want

- 128 MB AGP video cards

+ way too many single-port HD15 cards
 * Send them to Build, bump up video card specs?

1. Paco will email technocrats to get a new eyes login. IP ++++
2. Ian COMMITS to cleaning the safari policy page up and finalizing it. - IP++
3. Leah COMMITS to showing the HTML request page to everyone, and to getting it populated. IP++
4. Paco COMMITS to looking at the pricing sheet and changing it. DONE
5. Leah COMMITS to talking to Ebeth and Santiago about selling laptop parts on ebay. - DONE
6. Store will begin a collection bin for returned gizmos. - DONE
7. Sergio COMMITS to checking in on the processes for wiping Other Gizmos'data. - DONE
8. Paco commits changing pricing sheet next week at the store. DONE
9. Ian commits/ coming with a plan to sort ac adapters for laptops. DONE
10. Ian commits/ will come with a plan/a sheet to help customers to set up routers. IP
11. Sergio commits to looking anti-static bags prices. DONE
12. Leah commits about the store meeting reminders(when we want them to happen). DONE

Discussion

1. Static bags - $0.20 - $0.25 each. Too expensive. Can Receiving let the TS know before they get recycled? Ian will email NPAs/Receiving about checking in with the TS before static bags get recycled. Michael will talk to Receiving folk about static bags
2. Other gizmos return box - It exists! It's just to the right of laptop cabinet Store returns - build sheets from returned systems go in the same drawer as the warranty
3. Tech Support - The area will be spotty for a while. Customers should be informed that they may not receive an immediate response from Tech Support due to staffing changes.
4. PDAs to MIDs (mobile internet devices) - nobody cares about Palm OS or Windows Mobile. Ideas for triaging PDAs. Scrap anything w/ Palm OS or Windows Mobile. Recycle anything beyond this that not internet capable. COMMIT: Michael will look into PDAs and MIDs some more.
