Discussion (non-store)

  1. Wiki cleanup status. - Ian moved all the pages, to consolidate stuff and grouped them by stuff which needs work, and ones which could go away. Tony killed a bunch of pages. There's still a lot which need help. Lets all look at the main thrift store wiki page to decide what to work on/kill and report back next meeting.
  2. Can we look at one policy page per meeting? - at some point we were going to clean up those pages. Ian proposes that we look at those to decide if they really are still in development or not. Ian will look at everything under Thrift Store category: policy in development, and email those out so we can determine which ones are time sensitive and email it to list.
  3. Staffing Needs report - Tony sent one out. Estimated staffing needs for store/sales. Same floor hours in store but split with one more person. Have another collective member with sales as a minor. Espicially if they can focus on online or bulk sales. Every area in FG has presented a pitch. There are a lot of other departments which need more hours. Response was that online sales is part of reuse (which is next discussion item). Otherwise there has been no feedback as of yet. It's part of a larger discussion. Some concern over keeping the different hifts focused so one person has a max of two areas which they work on (so as not to get spread too thin). Tony will keep us posted.
  4. Online/Bulk planning - we don't have anyone who is coordinating either of these areas. Right now Santiago does online sales, Jake manages a few bulk sales ppl. Tony would like to have a collective member oversee these areas officially and have more hours added in general. For online sales we make tons of $$, bulk sales as well. Tony proposes 10-15 hours additional for each area, and a restart of those programs. Should definitely be part of sales. However as much or more than hours needs coordination. There's a lot of backlog to deal with, to set it up to be more efficient. It'd be good to have a store person help out with the initial hump of work, esp since we'll be moving people out a little as Tony comes in to even out hours. We need to double check with union folks to make sure it's okay. Job descriptions might change slightly - but selling stuff is a part of sales regardless.
  5. Fancy scraptops which are high end, can sell online for $$$$ but it takes time which we don't have. Should we up the price in the store? We'd have to do as much explaining about exactly what we've tested/not tested. We are currently holding on to them until we have more time to do online sales.
  6. Mac Laptops - we have a bunch of mactops which are ready for the store but there's no way for us to demo them, b/c they have to os installed. WHAT DO WE DO?!?! They're mostly power pcs. Demo-ing will take a long time, and it might not even get a better price. Most people seem to be fine with the macs which don't have an os on them right now. Tony is going to have a mac warranty in shape by next Tuesday which focuses on those. We do not need a demo machine.

Discussion (store, time-sensitive)

  1. Warranties (ugh!)

Discussion (store, for next store meeting)

  1. Twitter/Web promotions?
  • This is free, and there's a lot we can do with it.
