Formal Complaint Procedure

Free Geek provides a formal complaint procedure for all staff in order to provide an clear avenue for resolution of complaints.

Complaints should be submitted by email to hr@freegeek.org. Staff members should use your free geek email account when submitting the complaint to ensure the complaint will be correctly sent to HR. Staff members should include the word "complaint" in the subject of the email, and provide sufficient details for allowing Free Geek to act on the complaint.

Any staff member who believes a violation of the collective bargaining agreement is occurring should note this in the text of the complaint.

If confidentiality is called for, staff members should submit the complaint in writing to a staff collective member of their choosing. That staff collective member will then forward the content of the complaint to hr@freegeek.org, removing names as necessary to ensure confidentiality.

Free Geek will acknowledge receipt of all complaints within one business day of receipt, and report back to the complainant any follow-up action taken within two weeks. Free Geek will not tolerate any retaliation towards any employee for lodging a complaint.

Free Geek maintains an open-door policy. Any staff member may express concerns to any member of the staff collective. Complaints are best handled, however, by following the above stated procedure.
