Much Before August 23rd

  • Prepare Info Booth materials (stickers, brochures, etc.)
  • Create signs - Julie Uthe has created many signs.
  • Put up posters.

Day Before (August 22nd)

  • Street signs covered by "no parking tomorrow" bags
  • Empty out meeting room, vacuum, & position bar
  • General cleanup
  • Pathway to bathroom
  • Put signs up
  • Put all Info Booth items in one place
  • Prep food for bar (i.e. cut cheese, make platters, etc.)
  • Set-up a laptop/till/desktop station for receiving

  • 4:00 - 7:00 (10 volunteers)


August 23rd, 2008

Set-up

Coordinator:

Set-up consists of constructing tents under the supervision of a staff member, moving tables and chairs, and more. This is a heavy lifting job. The later shifts will include checking bathrooms and trash.


Hard Drive Shuffleboard

Coordinator:

Make sure nobody's getting rowdy with the the shuffleboard stuff.

Info Booth

Coordinator:

Money handler needed here. For those who know all about the Geek and are willing to answer questions.

  • 11:00 - 2:00 (setup and staff)
  • 2:00 - 4:00 (staff)
  • 4:00 - 7:00 (staff/teardown)
Special note: people who staff the info booth should be core volunteers and/or somehow involved in the coordination of Geek Fair.

Help with crafts & kid's activities. This is a job for those with excess enthusiasm.

Money handler needed here. Ensure the safety of smashers, clean-up, and more.

Free Geek will still be accepting hardware donations. If you are an experienced receiver, this is the place for you to work!

Taking down tents, folding tables, chairs, and more. This is a heavy lifting job.
