Advanced Testing Internship

  • Job Title: Advanced Testing Intern
  • Hours Weekly: At least 8 hours/week
  • Days Per Week: At least 2 days/week
  • Length of Internship: Minimum 3 months
  • Training: Orientation and Training Provided
  • Free Geek Supervisor: Meredith

Responsibilities

  • Triage and test incoming hardware
  • Adhere to provided documentation on testing procedures
  • Share in ensuring the functionality of the area: maintain organization of work area, cleaning up after oneself after the end of each shift, help with recycling and correct routing of gizmos
  • Teach testing procedures to new volunteers as needed
  • Follow Advanced Testing area protocols
  • Research and document the strange and the unknown (often!)
  • Opportunities create and document new tests for odd gizmos
  • Opportunities to improve and maintain infrastructure and AT procedures

Desired Qualifications

  • Some basic hardware knowledge. Candidate should be comfortable changing out parts of her/his home computer.
  • Able to follow directions and documentation
  • Detail-oriented
  • Not routine-averse
  • Able to follow directions
  • Understanding of current electronics market a plus

In addition:

The ideal candidate will be able to work well under stress and maintain a positive attitude in a relatively chaotic setting. The candidate will not be afraid to ask questions, but will be able to work on projects almost entirely without supervision. The candidate will be able to remain flexible as Free Geek grows and changes.
