The following goals were brainstormed by Build Reuse staff at a meeting on Tuesday March 1, 2011. We did not get to Build Room space and infrastructure at that meeting, but I have added some goals. Others feel free to do the same.
We still need to include other stakeholders in the goal setting process, separate goals into short-term and long-term, and prioritize the goals listed.
Accessibility
- LCD monitors at different heights on the walls/adjustable LCDs to accommodate different heights and people's varying vision levels.
- Work with Access and Ability working group on Build job duties, trainings, policies, etc in re: to accessibility of the Build program
- Better communication with the front desk re: volunteers with specific needs and shift scheduling
- Making shelves and other supplies easily reachable for people in wheelchairs and people who aren't tall.
Build Room Space and Infrastructure
- Get masonite on all the build benches
- Remove monitor shelves and mount lcd's on the wall at accessible heigths
- Move lcd testing out and install 2 research computers and a hdd imaging station
- Avoid the huge pile of Special Project boxes (by creating a designated space or not piling as many at once).
- Have a cleaning schedule
- Work with Admin. department to make sure supplies are always stocked
- Investigate a cheap vacuum system
- Organize the Boneyard or get rid of it.
Documentation
- Improve checklist readability
- Account for different learning styles w/ our documentation and teaching materials.
- Update wiki pages (Build tips, etc) and having print-outs of them
- Create educational "Learn More" packets
- Have a documentation intern to lead these projects
Education
