If you choose to help tidy up our wonderful facility, we will reward you with double hours (we know we're messy). Just how much time you want to spend on cleaning is up to you, but in case you really want to go all out, there is a list of extra stuff that would make you a cleaning All-Star!

Basic Cleaning Stuff

Dishes
  • refill all dish soap containers with dilute dish soap
  • wash the dishes in both kitchen sinks, dry them, and put them away
Garbage
  • combine trash from all small cans in building into large can and take out to dumpster
  • replace trash bags as necessary (reuse bags when possible)
  • put small cans back just where you found them
  • use large bags only for large trash cans
Bathrooms
  • refill all soap dispensers with 50:50 solution of soap & water
  • check toilet paper situation (please don't put out more than 2 rolls at once in each bathroom)
  • check towel dispensers (Matteo & Jacob F. have keys)
  • wipe down
    • toilet
    • mirror
    • sink
  • mop floor
    • fill mop bucket in shower
    • empty mop bucket (in the shower) when you're done!
Commonly touched surfaces (read package of cleaning product; must say "disinfect")
  • Sanitize doorknobs/bars
  • Sanitize sink handles and knobs
  • Sanitize toilet flush switches
  • Sanitize toilet sink
Recycling
  • please don't use bags for the blue paper and glass recycling cans
  • take small recycling cans and sort contents into appropriate recycle bins outside
  • put cans back just where you found them
Fridge
  • get rid of all the nasty stuff
  • wipe down surfaces inside
Food (Check the cafeteria too)
  • Throw out stale bread and spoiled produce
  • Tidy up and clean crumbs
  • sweep floor in cafeteria
Facility

    • the keeper systems & shelves
    • the tested monitors and their shelves

All-Stars Cleaning List

Dishes
  • collect all neglected dishes from around building (they're hiding everywhere!)
  • reorganize the dishes shelves
Fridge
  • deep clean: scrub down the inside of fridge
Facility
  • get rid of any neglected food everywhere, especially the classroom, cafeteria, core lounge
  • water the plants (reception area and meeting room)
  • dusting dusting dusting! please use a wet rag so you don't inhale too much dust.
  • clean the windows
Bathrooms
  • swap out old newspapers for new reading materials (there's a whole library in the core lounge!)
Reception Area
  • clean up free box (throw away any garbage, get all clothing in box)
  • take a walk to Goodwill with old free box items
  • remove outdated postings on bulletin board
Garbage
  • scrub down the trash cans

Where Are the Cleaning Products?

  • most items (rags, cleaning supplies, soap, mop, etc.) are located in the storage area near the first bathroom by receiving
  • some supplies are also under the volunteer kitchen sink
