Is the work getting done?

This is the task of Council to figure out, and it's the hardest job Council has. Reports from staff members are key components of this, but Council must spend some time thinking about how FreeGeek should work to figure out what's not being done.

Work not getting done

Final report to MMT

For example, the final report that was due to Meyer Memorial Trust several months ago about the grant we made a few years ago has still not been submitted. I think it's quite likely that reports due to other foundations are overdue as well. The single best way to ensure that an organization does not receive subsequent funding from a foundation is to fail to meet the requirements of a prior grant, including submitted required reports. Period. Amen.

Tasks staying in Queues forever

We have a ticket tracking system that could efficiently handle things like the Final report to MMT. Yet we joke constantly about most things staying in the queue forever. What do we do to make sure no ticket gets ignored?

Ideas:
  • an RT Oversight Committee/Administrator
  • Due dates on RT tickets, with penalties
  • Raising priorities on tickets
  • a Hand-Off committee/administrator, whose job it is to identify volunteers who want more work and identify work that they can do that's on the plate of someone who has too much.
