Program Basics

  • Program Name: Enterprise Build
  • Program Description: This program is intended to give a path for volunteers who have finished the build program and have an interest in learning Enterprise class hardware. To include a working knowledge of Networking and Systems Engineering. This would also prepare them for Network Plus certification. The teaching would be peer based with class assignments focused on working as a team. Currently there are no programs specifically to deal with Servers and high end network equipment.

  • Why does Free Geek need this program?
    • This Program would increase the educational benefits for our volunteers that go through the build program. Currently the build program can not offer experience in the type of systems that many organizations hire admins to maintain. This program would alow volunteers to become familiar with more complex hardware and software concepts and give them the hands on experience to explore.

    • This person would be a part of the build/production team. They would need to be well versed in build and even run a class or two.

    • Reuse of computer equipment
    • Providing education/job skills training
    • Provide Non-profits with affordable working server hardware

Measuring Success

  • How can the success of the program be measured?

It generates some or all of the expected income, creates a base of volunteers that are able to develop skills and/or certification.
