GEEK PROM gives geeks a second chance for romance.
Portland - Free Geek, Portland's leader in computer reuse and recycling is holding the second annual GEEK PROM on Friday, April 1, 2005. Portland area geeks will have a chance to recycle their high school prom memories, while contributing to Free Geek's efforts to "help the needy get nerdy." GEEK PROM is as "formal" as you want to be, open to anyone looking for a way to re-examine their high school angst amongst friendly geeks. GEEK PROM is a fundraiser for FREE GEEK and the City Repair Project.
GEEK PROM starts at 8:00 pm, and goes until 1:00 am. GEEK PROM will be held at Free Geek's new community space, located at 1731 SE 10th Ave. There is ample room for the arrival of stretch limos, however, participants are encouraged to arrive via ecologically sound transportation.
DJ's: Co and Pariah will be providing the old school Hip Hop, Drum n' Bass plus 80's and other random cool stuff. When not dancing you can get your picture taken in the Photo Booth, vote for Prom King and Queen and play everybody's favorite game show: Meet the Geek! Win geeky prizes throughout the night. GEEK PROM is an all ages event. A 21 and over cash bar will be serving beer and wine. Hors d' verves and non-alcoholic beverages are included in the ticket price.
GEEK PROM dresses, outfits and accessories will be available for sale in the Free Geek Thrift store for super cheap! (nothing over $5 – on sale from Tuesday, March 22 until the day of the prom – while supplies last). Tickets are $10 advance and $12 at the door. There is a limited quantity, so get yours today!
