1. Remove the main battery, hard drive, keyboard and switch cover (the plate above the keyboard).

2. Remove the optical drive

** take out the lock screw
 
** take out the lock screw
 
** push the thumb button with the arrow on the far right side of the drive
 
** push the thumb button with the arrow on the far right side of the drive
 
** if the drive doesn't pop right out, gentle assist with a small flat screw driver at the connection end inside the laptop (sometimes the screws come loose - make sure there are two connector screws)

4. Unthread the antenna wires from the wireless card

This procedure seems complicated, but it can be completed easily in less than 10 minutes. It basically involves removing the display and the top cover so that you can get to the battery.

  1. Remove the main battery, hard drive, keyboard and switch cover (the plate above the keyboard).

    • take out the lock screw
    • push the thumb button with the arrow on the far right side of the drive
    • if the drive doesn't pop right out, gentle assist with a small flat screw driver at the connection end inside the laptop (sometimes the screws come loose - make sure there are two connector screws)

  2. Unthread the antenna wires from the wireless card
  3. Remove the display panel
  4. Remove the top cover
  5. Remove the CMOS battery
  6. Replace the battery assembly and reverse the process to reassemble.
