Recycling

  • Gaylord logistics
    • Using the forklift 2-3 times a day to keep the area in order.
      • (once/day takes much longer because things need to be juggled around much more.
    • Bringing in and arranging pallets/gaylords after a vendor pickup.
    • Ensuring that all full gaylords are swapped the night before a pickup.
  • Forklifting donations and pick-ups
    • unpredictable timing, we should probably always have a driver in the warehouse.
  • Tool maintenance, repair and replacement.
  • Documentation
    • The recycling handbook would be handy for many reasons.

Sorting

  • Volunteer Training
-30 minute orientation to Sortland: Recycling Training only, generally no Reuse due to high turnover of volunteers.
-Answering many questions: Generally, reuse vs recycling of an item
  • Printer Triage
-Appraisal for Reuse/Bulk
-Pulling Ink/Toner
-Pulling Paper
-Bulb Identification
  • Organizing donations
-Safe Stacking
-Checking for missed data bearing devices
-Keeping possible valuable donations together
  • Backup for Receiving
-Runner or backup tally-er
-Large drop-offs
-Unloading Truck on Pick-Up days
  • Monitor Tetris

-Covered CRT Monitors organized into 3 rows of 6 in a gaylord

  • Sorting full boxes to send to other areas
 -Identifying what belongs in boxes and what doesn't
 -Proper rubber-banding

 -Culling overflowing cables
 -Filmy Plastic sorting
