Beginning a Shift

Area Tasks

  • If it's the start of the day turn on research stations and lights
  • Set out systems to be worked on (Builds and/or Evals)
  • Start HDD imaging

Volunteer Management Tasks

  • Greet volunteers, help them all get settled on a task
  • Orient new volunteers and set them on an initial task (typically recyclers)
  • Watch for ESL volunteers and others needing additional assistance to ensure tasks are clear

During a Shift

Area Tasks

  • Check status of laptops on testing shelves and advance them through testing steps
  • Sort incoming laptop component and accessory boxes
  • Advance imaging HDDs through process, retrieve wiped drives from SDA
  • Empty recycling cart
  • If it's a slow shift:
    • Cull parts
    • Clean and organize workspace
