Responsibilities:

The Printer Coordinator would be responsible for the maintenance and expansion of the printer repair, reuse and recycle program at Free Geek. He/She would need to raise his/her own salary from the sale of printers and related equipment. (Hopefully this would also raise enough extra to help pay for additional staff.) In addition the Printer Coordinator would need to participate in general Free Geek operations, being able to substitute for other collective members and fill in where needed. He/She would also need to cross train other collective members so that they would be able to cover gaps in the printer program. The Printer Coordinator would need to create, train and draw on a volunteer base for the printer program.

Specific duties:

Evaluate and repair inkjet and laser printers for reuse/resale. Evaluate and repair misc. consumer electronics (i.e. scanners, VCR's, stereo systems, DVD players) for reuse/resale. Research current resale values of equipment for resale (works with store coordinator). Develop and document procedures in a manner consistent with FREE GEEK's existing documentation efforts. Coordinate structured training for volunteers to perform the above tasks. Delegate, delegate, delegate! Salvage and evaluate inkjet cartridges and laser printer toner cartridges for reuse/resale. Work with re-manufacturers to arrange sale of salvaged stock. Coordinate volunteers to perform basic printer coordination tasks on an as needed basis. Recruit and coordinate volunteers to evaluate, refurbish and/or scavenge for parts printing equipment. Develop a training program for volunteers to learn printer evaluation and repair. Attend meetings as necessary. Learn procedures for other parts of Free Geek and fill in as necessary.
