Future FG Exercise

  • everyone gets card with the name of an item or a volunteer or other person somehow related to FG
  • describe what could be the experience that person has, who they work with, how does the object get sent through the building, what happens to it, all with the idea that the Providence thing works out great
  • same thing in the dystopian scenario
  • everyone takes a turn talking about positive and negative

The idea is to think about the future from different perspectives.

Old Commitments

Owner of each commitment should report on status: Done, In Progress, Carryover, Hand Off, or Drop. For items not completed, see Carryovers.

  • Liane will poke Oso about unanswered questions and take over if he hasn't sent them a message. She'll also ask if we can visit the warehouse or get a sample pallet, or both. DONE and IN PROGRESS

we're waiting for an appointment to go visit the warehouse and ask questions, we will then get a report

  • Dave and matteo and Kerm and matteo will make drawings and revise them based on input from Kerm and Jim; then consult with other concerned parties (Action, core, etc.) to formulate proposals in an interative way. IN PROGRESS
  • (Jeanne) Outreach will have to work on a plan for volunteer outreach IN PROGRESS
  • (Richard) HR will work on a plan for volunteer retention/handling DONE

FG is hiring another person to accomplish some of this

Space Plan

  • Matteo and Dave drew up a plan, just for the warehouse at this point, it is on the wiki

  • This low impact plan would be the first step in a bigger plan, when we have the money, to better the whole building
  • Before the bigger plan could be implemented we would need to have more input from the people on the ground, for it to really work for the whole of FG. This group can't make this decision.

    • would burn-in work as planned?
    • would we get more volunteers and staff?

Proposal: We suggest to staff to start implemented the Space Usage Plan, and start testing the system Burn In, to improve existing warehouse flow and get data on the feasibility of scaling up.

Volunteer Program

HR committee has been talking about volunteer recruitment and retention issues. Thoughts:

  • We need better staff to volunteer ratio, we do!
  • Attitude adjustments! Staff need to be sure to be friendly and treat jobs as important.
  • We started a end-of-shift survey (Have your questions been answered, etc)
  • Questions: How will we measure outcome of volunteer recruitment, retention, overall happyness?
    • count open slots
    • check hours in data base

commitment: Richard will look at the data base and figure out what kind of data could be retrived and report it to Council and Providence, are volunteer numbers going down or up,

Proposal: We'd like to see a plan from staff and for volunteer recruitment and volunteer retention that incorporates hard data and goal setting based on that data to determine if objectives are being met.

We have reached consensus.
