Recycling Volunteer Program
Goals
To help "professionalize" the recycling area, inspiring volunteers to be more invested in the recycling program. Provide consistant training for first time volunteers.
Training Outline
- Safety Basics
- Eye protection: must be worn at all times while the recycling area.
- Gloves: should be worn at all times when working in recycling area.
- First aid kits: small kit attached to wall behind the recycling workbench.
- Fire extinguisher: location
- Exits: location, what to do in event of an emergency.
- Basic Housekeeping Tasks
- aisles cleared
- sweep floor
- check that incoming piles are stacked properly
- clean work station at end of shift

- Tool kit contents
- Proper use of tools
- Powered screwgun orientation

- Active Gaylords (basic recycling): CORDS/PLASTIC/MOTORS & DRIVES/WIRE/STEEL
- Level 2 recycling (incoming): POWER SUPPLIES/UPS
- Advanced recycling (incoming) HARD DRIVES/CB & MB/NETWORK
- Basic Deconstruction Techniques
- Level 2 Recycling Techniques
- Advanced Recycling
- Special Recycling (Designed for those with mobility issues)
Safety and Tool Kits
Each volunteer will receive a "kit" at the beginning of their shift, and return it at the end of their shift.
