Testing Speakers

Speakers are tested for functionality and good tone. The good ones are then distributed throughout the building (Build, Thrift Store, or Infrastructure.) The ones that don't make the cut are recycled.

   TO RECYCLE SPEAKERS:
Cut off the cord and put it in the shopping cart with other cords.
   Remove batteries if included.
   Place speakers in CBM recycling.

This is a graph with borders and nodes. Maybe there is an Imagemap used so the nodes may be linking to some Pages.

How to Find a Power Adaptor

  • If you find power information on the speakers (voltage and maybe amperage), select a power adaptor that matches
  • If you cannot find power information, try any one that fits to test. If the plug is still not the right voltage or amperage for the speakers, a buzzing sound will happen when you turn the speakers on.

To Test Speakers

  1. Find a set of speakers with corresponding power adaptor
  2. Plug in the speakers to the headphones jack on the stereo system and plug the power adaptor into the power strip.
  3. Set the dial to your favorite radio station.
  4. Listen for quality of tone, crackling, buzzing, etc.
    • If the speakers sound good, place a gizmo id sticker on each speaker AND the power adaptor, and then put everything in a plastic bag.
    • If the speakers do not sound good, then recycle them!
