Build Education
The purpose of the Build program is to provide a safe environment that is conducive towards the training and education of volunteers with regards to computer software and hardware, and to foster a sense of community amongst volunteers regardless of background. Behavior that is actively detrimental towards this purpose will not be tolerated and can be met with disciplinary actions ranging from verbal warnings to expulsion from Free Geek. Examples of such behaviors would be:
- Racist, sexist, homophobic, and any other remarks or behavior that are intended to alienate a person based on their background,
- Aggressive or intimidating behavior or actions,
- Incessant jeering, mockery, or belittlement,
- Unwarranted or uninvited queries relating to personal information.
Free Geek is a place where anyone is welcome to participate, to learn, and to earn a free computer regardless of their walk of life. We strive to offer an open, accepting environment where people can come together and enjoy themselves, meet like minds, and work towards making the planet a nicer place to live. This means trying your best to be understanding, and to have fun! If you ever find yourself in a situation that is uncomfortable, please talk to the nearest staff person and we will address it as best we can.
