make google calendar public?

now that things are, yknow, all google with the calendar. can someone (with permissions) make the calendar "public"? or at least semi-public, so those of us with way too busy lives can subscribe with our overbooked calendar programs? how-to: http://www.tuaw.com/2006/04/13/howto-subscribe-to-a-google-calendar-using-ical/

So, what I'd like to see:

  • If I click on a day with nothing on it, it comes up with a regular blank page. Can there be...
    1. an autogenerated link back to the main calendar in the "blank" page, or
    2. an easy documented template snippet I could drop in so that folks can easily get back to the main calendar from my new page?
  • The main page shows what days are busy, but doesn't show what's happening on those days or which room they're happening in. Can there be a "detail" list at the bottom of the page showing what's entered for each event in some range?

I added the "week" view to the page. I still don't know if a template can be automatically added, but we can create one to manually with no problem. -- MW 13:55, 24 Oct 2005 (PDT)

I'd also like the template to show the day of the week (if possible) somewhere. Since when you get to the page, it doesn't show. RfS 10:14, 8 Nov 2005 (PST)

Reoccurring events

monday night craft night? Do reocuring events (craft night is supposidly every monday unless otherwise noted) get listed?

it looks like some recurring events are being added manually (adoption classes) but perhaps a week sketch of things that happen every week would be useful. given what i know about wiki and how this appears to work, making recurring events would probably be beyond this particular whatsit. --Ideath
I added a Typical Weekly Events section. We can try two ways, I think:
  1. Make everyone check the typical events and the concrete calendar before scheduling (easier to maintain, more likely to cause conflicts)
  2. Manually apply the typical events to the concrete calendar (harder to maintain, less likely to cause conflicts)

Proper formatting

im sure yalls are on it, but these pages will likely need some more detail, esp time, room(s), and chaperone (when applicable), also contact info for involved parties would be good.

that would be up to the person adding the event, right? --Ideath
As a format I've taken to this:
; room_name
: time - event name
:* notes

Resulting in this format:

room_name
time - event name
  • notes
What y'all think? RfS 10:10, 8 Nov 2005 (PST)
Simple. I am in favor. --Ideath
im down but it would be handy for a templete to auto generate when an event is added. does that make sense? --Revphil 19:34, 6 Mar 2006 (PST)

Place names

Which bring up another topic ive been wondering about, do we have agreeded upon names for the many rooms at the mothership, and if so where are they listed?

why, on the wiki. of course, everything's in a state of flux. --Ideath

fwiw, i call the entire Southern 40 the "Education Wing" though im not married to it or nothing.

i like "the south reaches of the empire," myself.
