This is the page that came up when I clicked the Discussion tab. Does this mean it's the main discussion page or that I'm just starting a discussion? I like the tooltips on the toolbar.

Where do we store images? Can we have external image links or do all need to be internal? File:Example.jpg

Images can be uploaded. There is a link normally for this, but it is disabled in new installations and must be enabled with a text file change. I don't remember whether external images can be allowed. I think that also is a configuration change but I am not sure. MichaelWestwind 14:50, 15 Oct 2004 (PDT)

Now I understand - this is the discussion page for the Main page. Marie

Ok, now it think it's time to think about what might be useful to have on the Main Page. Material about Mediawiki and wiki selection can probably move to another page. How to use it and FREE GEEK links can probably move up a bit. --Ideath 19:02, 18 Nov 2004 (PST)

Current Events Section

I think the current events section should be included on (not linked to from) the main page. There should always be three or four things in it, but not much more than that. Some folks don't monitor recent changes and a current events section might help them get into the current conversations.

I put the current events section back on the main page and renamed it "Evolution". It seems to me it is a bit out of date, though. In other matters, the Free Geek Structure page is out of sync with the structure section of the main page and I have been thinking on the best way to reconcile them. MW 22:16, 31 May 2005 (PDT)

Protecting the Main Page

The most frequent vandalism we get is to this page. I could protect it and then only sysops could edit the page, but would the inconvenience be worse than the inconvenience of dealing with spam? -- MW 14:19, 11 Jun 2005 (PDT)
