Printers and Scanners

Question: Does this mean a gaylord full of printers and scanners is worth nothing to us? I thought they were included with CBM. MW 14:53, 27 Sep 2005 (PDT)

Michael, Quantum's statement itemizes printers and scanners separately from CBM. And yup, they are worthless to us, at least as CBM. :( CM

Then I would say we should rethink where we put them. I had this idea that if they went into the CBM gaylords, that they would net us some income. How much of the plastic would we need to strip off to make them income? MW 17:54, 27 Sep 2005 (PDT)

Nathan, Guy and I have been talking about this informally. We should at least save the gold ribbons and the circuitboards to sell to Hallmark. Not sure about the rest. The thing I'm curious about is what Quantum is doing with the items it accpets but does not pay us for (keyboards, printers and scanners). I sent an e-mail to them today asking to tour their facility and meet with a representative to answer some of my recycling-specific questions.

Value of processors

From the historical data, which sadly I never had available to me as actual data, but rather as recountings from spreadsheets by Oso and Jhasen, there's one worrisome thing in here:

We're not doing well with processors.

We used to get $1000 for a 2-gallon bucket of processors, and $300 for a 2-gallon bucket of gold fingers. Then, when we moved to 5-gallon buckets, it was $2600 for processors and $1000 for fingers. At one point, when I talked to Hallmark, they said they were giving better prices for "high grade" processors than for "low grade."

At no point prior have processors been worth the same as fingers.

Jeff, the processor estimates are very, very rough, based on numbers thrown around on tours and in my training. As soon as I get a recent statement from Richard I will change the info there. He did tell me he was pleasantly surprised by our recent payment from Hallmark; that is, it was several hundred dollars higher than he had projected. (This was balanced out by Quantum's check, which was considerably lower than we expected.)

Christen, I just noticed prices for 5 gallon buckets of processors on the page. Are those real? It might be time to call Hallmark and ask what's going on.
