Laptop Recycling Guide
Remove the hard drive.
Remove RAM.
Remove Microsoft license stickers and anything identifying the previous owner.
Strip any needed parts (for mid grade or high end machines only), such as optical drives, hard drive caddies, wireless cards, etc. Ask your instructor for help.
For laptops with the Uncovered Electronic Device sticker, put the battery in the Bad Batteries box on the recycling shelf.
Minimally reassemble the laptop, enough that the lid shuts again.
Affix a Hard Drive Removed sticker, and make sure your instructor signs off on it.
Put the laptop in the appropriate recycling bin, covered or uncovered.
- All laptops are considered covered unless they have an Uncovered Electronic Device sticker.
