Program Basics

  • Program Name: Tennis Ball
  • Program Description:

Retrieving tennis balls for staff

  • What best describes this program?
    1. Primarily meets program needs (expected to cost more money than it makes)
  • Why does Free Geek need this program?

Because a dog's gotta be what a dog's gotta be.

Job Position Basics

  • Would there be a dedicated staff position associated with this program? YES
  • Position Title: Tennis Ball Coordinator
  • Job Description:

Catch and retrieve tennis balls that are stray and rolling around the floor, causing tripping danger to staff and volunteer. Slobber on them and return to nearest staff or volunteer.

Costs and potential costs

  • What are the expected financial staffing costs of the program? (Include all costs to the organization such as salary, payroll taxes, and benefits.)

Tennis ball coordinators usually work for free. They are otivated by a deep obsessive compulsive disorder.

  • What other costs are associated with the program? (Include costs of materials needed, etc.)

Dog biscuit purchases -- probably $10 per month. Extra tennis balls to practice on -- probably $5 per month.

  • If there will be a dedicated staff position, how much time would be needed for training?
    • How much time would existing staff need to put in? 0 hours
    • How time would existing volunteers need to put in? 0 hours
  • Once the program is up and running how many staff how many hours per week would it take?
    • In paid staff time? 1 hours/week
    • In volunteer time? 1 hours/week
  • Outline the intangible costs for the position and program:

Slobbery tennis balls bring people closer together.

  • Are there any possible negative impacts on Free Geek's mission, and if so what?

Tennis balls are technology. I don't understand the question.

  • How will this program affect other programs and staff positions currently in effect?

Everyone will be happier, though they'll have a bit more dog slobber on their hands.

  • How will this program affect other programs and staff positions being considered?

New coordinators might trip over more dogs, but this should be made up for by the fact that they'll trip over less tennis balls.

Benefits

  • Would the program generate income? NO
    • If yes, how much income would be expected once the program is up and running? $______________ / month
    • If yes, how long would it take for the program to get to that point? ________________________
  • How does the program support the mission of Free Geek?

Tennis balls are technology and they're chewy too! They're really great fun. Maybe I don't understand the question.

Measuring Success

  • How can the success of the program be measured?

We could count how many tennis balls there are at Free Geek and then we can count them again later on. The Tennis Ball Coordinator would do this. Then we could report the status of all tennis balls at weekly meetings.

  • For most income generating positions, the costs initially outweigh the benefits. If this is an income generating program, how long until it is expected to break even?

(does not apply)

Implementation

  • Outline a plan for implementing the program:
  1. First get the ball.
  2. Then throw the ball.
  3. Then I go get the ball.
  4. Then I return the ball.
  5. Then throw the ball.
  6. Then I go get the ball.
  7. Then I return the ball.

  12. Then I go get the ball.
  13. Then I return the ball.
  14. Then throw the ball.
