Qualifications of a Volunteer Representative on the Board of Directors:

• Has invested at least 30 hours of volunteer work in the organization
• Is an active volunteer, as defined by the Thrift Store's criteria for a volunteer discount
• Has an understanding of the needs of the organization and is comfortable representing the needs and expectations of co-volunteers
• Diplomatic skills and affinity for creating relationships and convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
• Is able to manage time so as to guarantee attendance and participation in meetings and other scheduled Board activities
• Is willing and able to seek out the ideas and opinions of a wide variety of core volunteers
• Has the ability to distinguish one's own needs and desires from those of the volunteers he or she is representing
