Phone System Admin

This page is for folks who admin the phone system. This might include stuff like changing the greetings, adding mailboxen, adding extensions, updating documentation on the wiki and on the phones themselves, etc.

Please see Darryl when tackling any of these tasks. (as of 3/2010)

Adding extensions

• Hook 'em up on the phone block (this may require some detective work)
• Test and install phones
• Label phones with extension

Misc

• Collect phones
• Clean phones
• Update paper extension lists on all phones
• Change extension buttons on front desk phones if needed
• Install appropriate button covers
• Plug phones into their appropriate spots

Copy Phone Functionality

• Set copy: copies a bunch of stuff from one set to another (incl. button assignments/"personal data"). Norstar Modular DR5 Installer guide pp. 155-157

Voice Mailboxes

• Create mailboxen if needed (see fgstaff/phones/info)
• Inform new mailbox user how to log into and use mailbox. Direct towards Phone System Howto and tell them password

Phone Tree

(aka CCR in Nortel-speak)

• Change staff directory path if needed

Re-Set Time for Daylight Savings Time

• Log into an administrative phone
• "Next" to get to B. General Admin
• "Show" takes you to 1. Sys speed dial
• "Next" takes you to 2. Names
• "Next" takes you to 3. Time and date
• "Show" takes you to Time XX:XX
• "Change" takes you to Hour: XX
• Type in the correct hour using the keypad
• "Next" takes you to Minutes (change if necessary using accurate time, e.g. from cell phone)
• "Next" takes you to AM/PM
• "Next" takes you to Date
• "Rls - press the Release button (orange) to end your session
