This is the naming convention to be adopted for new accounts across Free Geek internal services, approved by the Technocrats Committee on 28 Jan 2012.

For unix accounts
firstname + lastname, up to 12 characters long
e.g., johndoe, thomasjeffer
for namespace collisions, first and middle initial and last name
The fallback scheme would also be limited to 12 characters.
e.g., jhdoe, twjefferson
For e-mail addresses
firstname.lastname@freegeek.org
e.g., john.doe@freegeek.org, thomas.jefferson@freegeek.org
unixaccount@freegeek.org will be an alias to firstname.lastname@freegeek.org.
e.g., johndoe@freegeek.org, thomasjeffers@freegeek.org, jhdoe@freegeek.org, twjefferson@freegeek.org
