Overview
Free Geek's Reuse Department encompasses many dynamic, workshop-style volunteer areas which both produce refurbished technology and educate volunteers about technology. A Reuse staff person will train in multiple Reuse areas to help provide shift coverage, ensure a steady flow of gizmos for Free Geek's programs, and facilitate volunteers. This position entails involvement with Free Geek's Production committee in order to work with other departmental staff to help develop our programs and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Lead workshop-style classes
- Troubleshoot and help maintain Reuse technical infrastructure
- Stock reuse area with needed hardware and components
- Manage incoming and outgoing devices and gizmos
- Recruit volunteers from Build to move on to Post-Build areas
- Keep volunteers on track and within established systems and procedures
- Prepare Reuse areas prior to volunteer shifts
- Orient volunteers to production areas and procedures
- Work floor shifts coordinating volunteers
- Ensure that gizmo quality control protocols are being met
- Be an active member of the Production Committee
- Report to and work with a Reuse Area Coordinator
- Become a union member in good-standing within 30 days of hire
Required Qualifications
- Experience coordinating volunteers
- Availability during Free Geek hours of operations, including morning and occasional evening meetings as required
- Command of standard office software (word processing, spreadsheet, data entry)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivation
- Strong organizational skills
- Able to lift 25 lbs repeatedly, and 40 lbs. on occasion
- Ability to multi-task
- Detail-oriented, but able to see (and understand) the big picture
- Ability to work in an informal environment with a diverse population
- Dedication to Free Geek's mission and Open Source philosophies
- Must be patient and courteous with the public
- Ability to work with and coordinate volunteers with a wide range of skills and experience
